From Strangers to Well Said! Co-hosts.
When Tae Chong and Sophia Garcia met backstage at the Somerville Theatre in 2023, they were at different stages in their storytelling journeys. Tae was a seasoned performer, while Sophia was about to perform for the first time. Yet as they talked, they found their stories shared similar themes, particularly the importance of believing in yourself—a value that will be front and center at the Well Said! showcase, hosted by Stellar Story Company.
"I often think about that afternoon in the cafeteria. If a skinny, geeky, immigrant kid watching television on a Friday night with his parents could upset so many popular kids, I was the powerful one. When you truly know who you are, you are powerful. When we support one another, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or disability, we are exceptional." - Tae
"I had to learn that I am only human. I don't have to defy all odds. I don't have to be the underdog. My only job in this life is literally to just be me. So, the Dean was right. I've always been a winner. But not by anyone else's accord. Only ever by my own." - Sophia
On Sunday, March 1, Tae and Sophia will share the stage again, this time as our Well Said! co-hosts, welcoming new voices and celebrating more meaningful stories. See the storyteller lineup. Read more about Tae and Sophia's backgrounds and the entire Stellar team online.
